Workspace Makeover - Shabby Chic White Workspace
Hello and happy Monday to you!

I've had this little gem tucked away for a while now, for no other reason than I haven't had time to post it! Over the Easter bank holiday, fuelled by too much chocolate, we began the long awaited task of redecorating the dining room, finally getting rid of the dank orange paint that I'd been suffering for the last 2 years. (For how to frame a tea towel like the Orla Kiely one above, click here)

Before the makeover:

Bleugh! I did also do a cheeky desk makeover a while back too, in case you hadn't already noticed! ;)

The dining room serves a very big purpose in our house; yes, we use it for eating, more so for when we have guests for dinner, but it is also P's music room and my craft space. (The whole room was once upon a time P's music room, but you know, girly-arty-pretty-practical needs must...)

We've moved things around in here several times before, jigging and poking to try and make it the multi-functional space it needed to be. But nothing quite worked, and it was because there was always the dingy, grubby, moody feel to the room due to the colour. So, after much pleading from me, we finally set aside a weekend to get it all done.

And done, we did.

The shelves started life as basic pine shelving kits from Homebase, which I then (painstakingly!) stained with a light ash wood stain to get to the limewash effect. It probably took about 10 thin coats in the end for each shelf and bracket, but it was definitely all worth it!

You can see how long ago it was I photographed this as I couldn't resist snapping the reflection of the new daffodils in this frame! I must say the daffodils may be long gone but the garden is looking simply wonderful at the moment, which I promise I will show you very soon...

I really am head-over-heels in love with this space. It is finally the practical but pretty workspace I've been dreaming of. Everything I need regularly is within reach, but organised in a way that still looks beautiful. The best bit is, it makes me want to sit at my desk and it makes me desperate to create. I really couldn't ask for more.

I hope you all have a fantastic week, I can't wait to be back with my latest Garden Diary post very, very soon!
